Wayne Pediatrics screens 44 at the Breakthrough T1D Walk in Detroit
The Breakthrough T1D Walk was more than just an event - it was a powerful show of solidarity, strength, and shared purpose. We were honored to stand alongside T1D champions, families, and advocates who came together to raise awareness and inspire hope.
As the event’s official screening partner, our team was proud to offer free Type 1 Diabetes screening to attendees. Throughout the day, we connected with dozens of families, ultimately screening 44 people! A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Colleen Buggs-Saxton, whose leadership and advocacy for T1D screening continues to drive real impact in Metro Detroit. We also want to recognize the incredible Wayne State University students and medical professionals who volunteered their time with a true spirit of service.
Each screening was a meaningful step toward early detection and proactive care. We are grateful to Breakthrough T1D for creating a space where community empowerment can thrive.
