Pediatric rheumatologists diagnose treatment and management of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. These conditions often impact the muscles, joints, and connective tissues.
- Autoimmune disorders, like juvenile idiopathic arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, post-infectious arthritis, chronic vasculitis
- Inflammatory disorders of the muscle, eye, or other organs
- Unexplained chronic musculoskeletal issues including pain, weakness, poor appetite, fatigue, and/or loss of function or skills
- Unresolved anemia, rash, weight loss, or joint swelling
Often a coordinated care team works closely with children and their families alongside the physicians including dieticians, social workers, and nurses.
